logo PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT is a preliminary, practice SAT, given to 10th and 11th grade students at FHS. Only 11th grade students taking the PSAT qualify for the National Merit Qualifying Test (NMSQT).

Registration for the PSAT is done on the FHS campus and is administered the third week of October.

logo College Board SAT

No longer required for University of California and CSU starting senior class 2020

The SAT is a college admission test administered by The College Board.

It is recommended students take the SAT for the first time in the spring of their junior year (March, May or June).

Beginning with the Class of 2015, the SAT will be scored on a 1600 point scale.
From 2005 to 2014, the SAT was scored on a 2400 point scale.

Registration for the SAT is done on The College Board website at:

The SAT is offered in October, November, December, January, March, May and June.

FHS is an SAT test site. Be sure to register early to guarantee a seat at FHS.

The ACT is a college admission test administered by ACT . It is taken in the 11th and 12th grade. It is recommended students take the ACT for the first time in the spring of their junior year (April or May).

The ACT is offered six times a year in September, October, December, February, April and June. Check their website for specific dates and locations: http://www.actstudent.org/regist/dates.html

All colleges will accept the SAT or ACT.
All students should take advantage of as much classroom learning as possible before taking these exams in their junior year. It is recommended students test again in the fall of their senior year.
