Developing a 4 –Year Plan
Students should develop a four-year plan for high school. Courses taken at one grade generally prepare students for work taken in succeeding grade levels. The courses students elect to take in high school should depend on several factors:
- The occupation of career the student hopes to pursue
- The college or university the student plans to attend
- The student’s special interest and abilities
- In developing a four-year plan, it is recommended that the student:
- Review graduation requirements
- Become familiar with college requirements and pre-requisites for future educational or career goals
- Consider the pattern of college preparatory courses taken in high school is important
- Strength and difficulty of courses taken is considered by selective and competitive colleges
Note to Students: Use this form to develop a four-year plan with your parents and counselor. List the courses you plan to take each semester you are in high school. Include graduation requirements and college admission requirements (if applicable).
